This book was a real treat. When Wingy Pigs Flew by Francessca Bella is novel written in all rhyme and is so inventive I’ve never read anything in this format before (and I read A LOT lol). It reads almost like a Broadway play. It is the 1st in a series that is titled Rhymeland Everlasting.

As much as I love the color coded rhymes at the end of each line it did get kind of distracting as my eyes would immediately go to that set of words. I will say I had to read this twice as it took me a while to get the underlying story through the rhymes. The first time was to get used to the rhyming verses and the color coding. The second time was once I got used to the writing style so I could get the full story and things I missed getting used to a new writing style. So if you are easily distracted like me know you may need to slow down or do a second read but it is worth it.

This book has whimsy, fantasy, magic and romance. I felt so bad for Trenton at the beginning of the story and really enjoyed his journey with the magical emerald. This whole fantasy novel is a nice break from normal fantasy novels that tend to be super heavy and can leave you feeling destroyed and bogged down.

The author uses amazing sensory and descriptive details right from the first line of the story, ā€œBling! Sunshine warms, emitting light/ on the circus.ā€and continues them through out which makes it very easy to visualize scenes, events and people. As a fantasy reader and reader who likes to picture different worlds, scenes and people as I go I find these kinds of descriptions amazingly helpful.

All in all if you are looking for a new way to read and view romance and fantasy books, you are a romantasy that just needs a break from the long drawn out 500-600 pages books,or you really just want to experience fantasy in a new and innovative way, this short novel is a great one to pick up and try at only 241 pages.
